What’s At Camp?

Summer, Fall, Winter or Spring, there’s always something fun to do at beautiful camps Innisfree!  See what we offer below...

Camp Facilities

GSMD’s campgrounds include beautiful Camp Houses with electricity, indoor plumbing, fireplaces, phones, kitchens and more!  We also have Camping Cabins, Platform Cabins, Primitive Camping Areas, lodge-style Troop Houses, and Dining Halls.  For details and photos of these wonderful facilities, download a Camp Facilities Portfolio (2.4mb).   GSMD camps are proudly accredited by the American Camp Association.

High Ropes Course

The Innisfree High Ropes course is a system of 16 elements that are variously secured 20 to 30 feet above the ground.   Each element is designed to challenge the participant and her friends in a true test of body, mind and spirit. The final thrill of the high ropes course is the Zip Line, upon which participants fly along a steel cable through the woods more than 100 feet to the dismount. The High Ropes Course was designed and built by Experiential Resources Inc. (ERI) of Bloomington, Indiana, one of the leading designers and builders of challenge equipment in the nation.

To make a reservation, please call (313) 972-4475, X2226.

Low Ropes Course

The Low Ropes course contains 14 elements at the ground level, which focus on the development of teamwork skills such as listening, leadership, cooperation, patience and inclusiveness. One part of the low ropes course, the “Brownie Walk,” was designed specifically for younger girls, and simulates some of the elements typically found on a high ropes course. The low ropes course also includes a “Bouldering Wall,” simulating a rock climbing activity, which challenges participants to climb across instead of up.  The Low Ropes Course was designed and built by Experiential Resources Inc. (ERI) of Bloomington, Indiana, one of the leading designers and builders of challenge equipment in the nation.

Equestrian Center, Farm Barn & Animal Science

There are many opportunities for individual girls and troops or groups to participate in horse-riding activities throughout the year.  Visit the Equestrian Center page or click on the Equestrian Course Catalogue at left for a complete roster of offerings.

Summer Camp Programs

Each year, we offer dozens of great camping experiences for girls! Visit our main Camp page to get program information. You can even register online!

Troop Camping Opportunities

One of the great experiences a girl can have is to go away with the other girls in her Girl Scout Troop or Group to a special place to play, learn, talk, giggle, eat, sleep and generally have a lot of fun.  Troops may take advantage of Outdoor Program services, such as swimming, canoeing, nature classes, archery, challenge courses, horseback riding, crafts, orienteering and much more or do activities on their own.
