Ceremonies
Whether you are planning an end of year ceremony,
rededication, court of awards, flag, Girl Scout Birthday or bridging
ceremony there are hundreds of ways to celebrate Girl Scouting.

What Is Bridging?
Bridging is moving from one age level to the next in
Girl Scouting. A girl must complete certain tasks before she bridges
up to the next level of Girl Scouting.
Bridging from Daisy to Brownie Girl Scouts:
At the ceremony, girls receive the following
insignia and awards (after
completing bridging activities):

Brownie Girl Scout Pin
-
World Trefoil Pin (if they have not received it on
their first Thinking Day)
-
Bridging to Brownie Girl Scouts Award
-
A membership star with a blue disc
Flying up from Brownie to Junior Girl Scout:
At the end of the third year a Brownie Girl
Scout will fly up.* After
completing bridging activities (Brownies are the
only girls who will fly up, Daisy, Junior and Older Girls will Bridge)
Brownie girls will receive the following:
* The Girl Scout pin is usually awarded at a special
“Investiture Ceremony” during the next troop/group year.
Bridge from Juniors to Cadettes:
At the end of the third year a Junior Girl Scout will Bridge to
Cadettes. Junior girls will receive the following
(after completing bridging activities):
Cadettes to Senior Scouts:
At the end of the third year a Cadette Girl Scout will
bridge to a Senior scout. Cadette girls will receive the following
(after completing bridging
activities):
What Is Court of Awards Ceremony?
Court of awards is held to recognize an individual girl
accomplishment during the Girl Scout year.
Girl Scout’s Own Ceremony
A quiet time when girls come together to share their
own thoughts/Feelings around a topic such as friendship, favorite
songs, poetry etc.
Investiture/Rededication Ceremony
An Investiture ceremony is held when an individual (girl
or adult) joins the Girl Scouts for the
first time a ceremony is held to welcome the
individual to Scouting, and rededication is to renew their commitment
to the Girl Scout Promise and Law.
Flag Ceremony
To honor the flag in a ceremony by itself, or as part
of other ceremonies.
Opening Ceremony
The start of a meeting.
Closing Ceremony
To give a definite ending to the troop meeting.
