New Volunteers
Thank you for visiting the GSMD website about
volunteering to help girls Discover, Connect, and Take Action on
activities that interest them!
The first step to becoming a new leader is to complete
the volunteer application and background check form which are linked
to the left.
The second step is to sign up for training. Check out
the New Volunteer Training link to the left. Training opportunities
abound from late August through early June. In the summer, our
dedicated volunteer trainers take a well-deserved vacation, too.
No Previous Girl Scout
Experience is Necessary!
The strength of
the Girl Scout movement rests on the voluntary leadership of its adult
members. Girl Scouts of Metro Detroit depends on over 14,000 adult
volunteers to share the Girl Scout movement with girls in Wayne and
Oakland Counties. We are looking for volunteers who represent the
diverse world we live in.
The staff of
Girl Scouts of Metro Detroit will support you! We have expertise in
assessing, developing, and producing quality activities for girls.
Make An
Investment In the Future
According to a
- study of the Girl Scout Research Institute, "Girls Speak Out: Teens
Before Their Time," our nation's girls are caught in a state of 'age
compression' in which they are bombarded with images and choices that
are beyond their maturity level. This study confirms that today, more
than ever before, girls need a trusted adult role model to relate to
as they journey through their youth- into adulthood.
