We hold that ultimate responsibility for the Girl Scout
Movement rests with volunteers...
— From
the Preamble to the Constitution of
Girl Scouts of the United
States of America.
Enrich
the Lives of Girls!
Thank you for your interest in Girl Scouting in the metro Detroit
area! Our council serves approximately ¾ of Wayne and Oakland
counties, and over 35,000 girls! While our program is girl-centered,
we would cease to exist if it weren’t for the over 14,000 adults who
volunteer to serve girls throughout our jurisdiction.
Whether you have just a few hours, a day or much more time to share,
girls need positive role models to spend time with them.
Opportunities to serve girls range from one-time programs and events
to year-round positions supporting a variety of troop and group
programs, the provision of those programs and the maintenance of our
support systems for volunteers and girls. From service with adults in
a training role, administrative function or support services, to those
adults who drive girls to events, support program opportunities in the
community, or work with our staff to plan and develop our services, we
need adults of all ages, backgrounds and abilities to serve as role
models to girls.
The menu on the
left of this page allows you to click
on the area or title that best identifies your role or what you need
to know. More information can be found there about specific roles,
tasks, opportunities and options as you look at helping us with our
Mission:
Girl Scouting builds girls of courage, confidence, and character, who
make the world a better place.
