Adult Volunteer Awards
Girl Scouts of
Metro Detroit recognizes that the Girl Scouting movement would not be
possible without the dedication of its adult volunteers -- and thanks and
honor those deserving volunteers, on an annual basis, through GSUSA
developed awards, local awards and community recognition events.
Girl Scouts of
Metro Detroit appreciates the tremendous efforts, accomplishments, energy
and diligent work its volunteers put forth. There are a variety of awards
that volunteer are presented to acknowledge that. Some awards include:
Most Girl Scout families and local communities within
the council’s jurisdiction show their appreciation by recognizing Girl Scout
leaders on Girl Scout Leader’s Day (April 22nd) or during
national Volunteer Recognition Month (April). The Outstanding Volunteer,
Outstanding Leader, and Outstanding Service pins are awarded at the
neighborhood level, typically during these April events or when the
neighborhood’s troops end their year – sometimes with a Leader Recognition
event or potluck.
Girl Scouts of Metro Detroit's Board of Directors award
the Appreciation Pin, Honor Pin, Thanks Badge, Thanks Badge II and
President’s Award in the Spring.
The new GSUSA recognitions that have been approved by
the CEO/ED include the Community Participation, Citizenship in Girl
Scouting, Social Responsibility in Girl Scouting, GS Volunteer Achievement,
Girl Scout Mentoring, and GS Volunteer Executive Awards.
Criteria for these recognitions are established and
many require letters of nomination. See each award link for the
criteria and application. For more information about these awards call
